I’m just going to stick this lovely bit of animation here for now….
A graduation animation made by a student from Kyoto Seika University. At first I wasn’t too sure about the animation and I just loved the actual look of it rather than the entire thing, but it’s really grown on me since I stumbled across it.
It’s been beautifully made with that water colour style, which brings around softness and a ‘hand made’ aspect which really helps with linking the story to the viewer. The style works brilliantly with the meaning behind the animation as well as slowing down the animation which in needs because of the narrative. I love the characters within the animation and even though they never say a word, you know exactly what they are thinking and feeling.
“その街はいつからか雨がやまなくなって人々は郊外や高台に移り住んでいった。「rain town」人々の記憶の底に沈む 忘れられた”雨の街”へ時折、誰かが迷い込むという…。 2010年京都精華大学アニメーション科第二期生卒業制作作品。
In this town, since who knows when, rain has never stopped.
Residents moved out to suburbs and high ground around
People’s memories are now deeply submerged.
But into this forgotten rainy town
sometimes, someone wanders.
Graduation film a Kyoto Seika University.
